3 tier sour cream pound cake, yellow vanilla buttercream frosting. Lots of white buttercream flowers of different sizes placed on cake. The flowers were air dried for easy placement.

Seems like the mom would have wanted to honor her daughter's wishes for her wedding.  It is not like the yellow is vulgar or gaudy.  She just sounds controlling to me.

It really was a pretty cake, picture doesn't do it justice. The bride had given me a picture from a magazine of the cake she wanted, so I went by that. Evidently she hadn't told her Mother.

It was a great story and I am breaking out in applause, too!  I can just hear you in your own sweet, southern Betty way, putting the obnoxious mom in her place :o)  What a pity the daughter had to apologize for her mother.  I am happy that the bride loved her cake.  How could she not?  It is gorgeous. I made my step-daughter's wedding cake in 1986 and it was lavender with white trim.  She and I decided on the color together.  Some of the guests were scandalized because it was not all white, but most people loved it.

Thanks again Sandra....long story goes with cake, I'll try to give you the short version. Bride wanted yellow frosting & white icing flowers, Mother had a fit, told me to cover up ALL yellow.Told me to go get more frosting to do this. I told her let me finish cake it would be find (had to finish on site) when I got thru.Had lot more white flowers to put on.She kept on & on, made a pest of herself. She got mad when I told her to go away & don't bother me while I was working.By now it was almost time for wedding. She complained to her daughter, her daughter came & apologized to me for her Mother's actions (she loved the cake by the way). The catering people broke out in applause for me for telling the Mother what I did (she had,had words with them too) but they hadn't said anything. That was the first time I had ever been rude to someone in that manner. But I just couldn't take it any longer.
Sorry, story wasn't to short after all. : )))
