I know what you mean, Katy....'just in case....' When I ran out by 7:30, I started out back to the front door with a huge bowl of apples and oranges, and George stopped me. He said: if you keep trying to over compensate, eventually you'll be adding our dinner for tomorrow night! Just turn out the lights and put down the shades. So, that's what I did.

You are so right Katy.  I had purchased a bag of snickers cause it's my husband's favorite.  Figured if no one came then he would eat it.  Then was worried I would need more so I got a bag of skittles.  My daughter loves them so guess who will be getting that bag.  One year I had 4 or 5 bags and only 2 or 3 kids came.

Thanks Goreti.

I know exactly why you bother Goreti - same reason as I make or get stuff.  JUST IN CASE!  We didn't get any callers for the last 2 years and I nearly didn't bother this year.  But I needed a cake project and it seemed as good an idea as any and I would have felt awful if I got callers and had nothing to give them!

I think it's an excuse to nibble later on, Goreti! lol! I used to do that-especially with those taffy things that have peanut butter inside of them with orange and black paper wrappers. (one of my faves) I can't remember what they are called. They usually wouldn't make it to Halloween because I would eat them first.

These are really cute Katy.  I'm reading about how many kids you had for trick or treat.  I didn't have a single one.  I'm not surprised.  No kids in the neighborhood and to get here from the city it's at least 15-20 minutes and our roads are very dark and no sidewalks.  Don't know why I bother buying candy.

Linda, you won't find me disagreeing with you on that one.  Mind you we have started to get some real loonies over here too with the decorations. Wouldn't want their electricity bill or their carbon footprint!  I'm a bit of a 'bah humbugger' on this one, have to say.  I decorate only if the family are coming to us for Christmas dinner (which they usually do sadly, sooo much work).  As for Halloween, we have you guys to thank for that lol.  Must cost you a fortune! Next week it will be 'Penny for the Guy missus!  Oh puleese, don't get me started...................

Glad you like the cookies anyway - must say, I broke my rule of no treats during the week and ate one of them today - very nice indeed...

So cute Katy! I don't know how I missed these. I thought ours was going to be  a small bunch so I was only prepared for about 64 kids. I ran out of all my goodies at about 7:30pm, turned the lights out, closed the shades, and they still kept ringing the door bell. It is a big deal here, Katy! Several years ago, people started decorating their houses with orange lights, spider webs, mummies, goblins, grave stones, and even a few have set up spook houses in the neighborhood. It's gotten worse than Christmas decorating, and believe me, I think American's go over the top on that!

I am friends with a caker in the Houston, USA area, they had over 100 children at her house.  There are still pockets here where I live where they do get that many and more.  Ha Ha Katy.... trust me, when we had that many children, you eat a 4pm, start giving out candy at 6pm till 8pm. Someone at the door every 5-10 min.  Love it.

Thanks guys.  June you get way more over there than we do here, I think it's a much bigger deal than it is for us.  Don' think I could cope with that many lol!
