work in progress the other side showing embroidery

This is a dummy cake that I am in the process of working on for the September cake show in our area. so far, this is as far as I have gotten. I plan on adding two more tiers below the bottom of this tier. The top is called brushed embroidery and the bottom tier is called the tufted billow weave technique. I used the air brush to spray super pearl luster on the whole cake.

Shaira, all I used was fondant on the actual billows. Everything you see here is fondant and royal icing (for the brushed embroidery). Thank you! =O)

linda, did you use a combination of gumpaste and fondant for the billow weave technique? this looks so elegant. :)

Thank you Mandy Nel, Vanessa, and Lee. I do have the other two tiers done but I have just a couple of roses that I am working on to put at the base and I broke one yesterday. Arrgg! I hate making flowers but there is one spot on the bottom tier that has a flaw on it that needs just a little disguise on it so that it is covered up and a couple of roses will do the trick. As  soon as I get these roses done, I'll post another picture.

I would go gaga if I had to receive a cake like this - absolutely exquisite!  Good luck with the rest of it :-)
