This is the same one, Bonnie.  The cake itself was in the freezer for a month because Pat and Roger (it was Roger's birthday cake) were too busy (according to Pat lol) to celebrate Roger's birthday.  Last weekend, I just decided enough was enough, so I took it out of the freezer, decorated it and took it to them.  Even though we still didn't get to do dinner, Roger loved his cake.

No, Bonnie, Hersey's Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Cake is a from scratch recipe, obviously from Hersey's, which I consider to be the best chocolate cake ever.  If you ever look at Allrecipes, it has about a million people that gave it a perfect score.  I have been making it for about 20 years.  If you would like it,  will post.

Sandra, I finally got on, and am afraid to close it now!!  Anyway, what is this Hersey's Perfectly Chocolate Cake , a recipe, or a box cake mix?

Is this the one you made & didn't get to give to them, or am I getting mixed up again?   Said you had to put one in the freezer, because they didn't get it in time, or some such...?   Looks an awful lot like a football helmet to me!   Sounds like you did a wonderful job, to get it round at all. lol

That's the one,,,,Hersey's Perfectly Chocolate Cake.  Many years ago I went on a quest for the perfect chocolate cake and I decided this was it.

I knew that up front, but I wanted Roger to have what he likes.  He is such a good person and does so much for other people.  Like I said, as ugly as it was, it did taste delicious :o)

No.  It is all chocolate cake covered with a thick coat of chocolate butter cream frosting.  The cake is light and very moist....which was the beginning to the problem.  I was unable to cut the face opening as large as it should have been because it wanted to collapse.

I was actually doing that, Gali, but got tired of fooling with it and just let it go.
