My stepdaughter's 50th birthday cake for last night's family dinner, held at the same hotel where my husband and I had our wedding reception 31 years ago! I think this is the most adventurous I have ever been in terms of techniques - all thanks to CWB members giving me the ideas, help and encouragement to go for it. There are imperfections, but overall, I was happy with the result. First time for so many things - lace moulds, quilting effect, embossing, pillars, sugar flower spray etc.

Thank you everyone, so much. Your comments are so appreciated, especially when in such esteemed company as you guys. No June, she doesn't look 50 - she's a cracker.

Quite a pretty lady. Certainly doesn't look 50!!!! and tell her I said so. I am so gald she was overwhelmed... makes you feel it was all worth it doesn't it. :o)
June, thank you so much. Lesley was a bit overwhelmed I think. She just stood there and stared at it and then said - you know, you'd have to pay £1,000 for a cake like that! She always did exaggerate hehe
Here she is pretending to cut it - she refused to put a knife in it and told me I had to do it.
