Lesley's birthday cake, inspired by a birthday card Mick gave me a couple of years ago. It is a print by fashion artist Renee Gruau and it struck me as ideal! Cake is syrup Vic Sponge 3 layered with apricot conserve and a touch of vanilla buttercream. Fashionista lady is 2D, some fondant accents and some painted. Cameo from a mould and my first go at the pleating effect. I am so happy with this cake, think it may be my best work yet!

Wowzer!!  This is really something!  Never would have thought of it in a million years!  She is PERFECT!!  The feathers are perfect.  The pleats are perfect.  The hat brim & pearls are perfect.  The ARM is perfect!  Even the cake board!  Lesley must have fallen out when you gave her this one!   There must be a contest somewhere , where you can enter this??? WOW!

Thank you Betty and Sandra.  I think my lady may be a bit 'sexier' as I didn't do her eye big enough to get the impish look, but that's fine.  I was so happy with the black fondant feathers, came out exactly as I wanted them too!

Oh, this is fabulous, Katy!  Your lady is prettier than the original...love the pearls!  The pleating turned out pretty, too.  Congratulations on a GREAT job!  I LOVE this one :o)
