Yes....I've seen those videos too. But I've also seen the baggage handlers load a plane.....yikes!!! Even with all the warnings on the pkg..... fragile ..... handle with care..... this side up..... etc. etc. ....... Watched them "throw" the pkg's willy nilly onto the cargo belt. Steve & I watched as they threw a guitar...and we knew....no way it survived. Felt bad for the passenger receiving on the other end!!!!!

After some of the videos that I have seen of UPS deliveries, I figured I might as well just mail it.  The way I packed it, the cake was really secure.  I figured if the cake didn't make it they would at least have the other goodies.

Pretty G.
Surprised you didn't ship through UPS or Fed Ex. I am amazed that regular post delivered with no damage!!!

lol--Now for next weekend, I have to make a cheesecake for my other daughter.  She is getting together with friends for a Super Bowl party.  They now ask her if she can get me to make a cheesecake whenever they get together.

Thanks Katy.  I debated for awhile but in the end I figure I would give it a go.  When my daughter & her boyfriend were here for Christmas, I was dealing with the painful issue of tendinitis.  Didn't do much baking and he noticed that (he loves sweets).  I found out that chocolate cake with chocolate frosting is his favorite.  Thought this would hold up well and decided to go for it.  Also sent them some biscotti, homemade chocolate covered peanuts, as well as some other snacks.

Tx Gail.  I actually mailed it priority mail which got there in 2 days.  After I decorated it, I wrapped it really well and froze it.  After removing from freezer, I wrapped it in bubble wrap and place it in a sturdy box the size of the board.  Made sure if was fully cushioned in bubble wrap and then placed it in the shipping box.  I sent a few more things in the box so it kept the cake box in place.  Marked the box with "this side up" and hoped for the best.  My daughter called me to tell me it arrived in beautiful shape.  They even brought the box to the door which they have never done in the past with the other boxes I sent her.  Her boyfriend was totally surprised.  His birthday is tomorrow.
