Silhouette Cake based on Wedding Invitation

Maid of honor wanted a wow topper at a not so wow price. We agreed on this silhouette of the bride and groom atop a cake based on the wedding invitations. The invitations were covered with polka dots of graduating sizes and shades of purple with black monograms.

Thanks Holly ( I love this site and all the people on it).  So it's Satin ice Black for me in future then for sure.  btw - you clearly DO know not just something, but quite a lot!

Oh!  It's still my first bucket I'd bought, and I bought it this past February.. Satin ice Black/Vanilla.  I don't think I'd EVER use it to lay over a cake, but making wheels, pupils in eyes, eyelashes, and toppers like this - I'm all over it!  Ask away, you make me feel like I actually know something!  Ha!

It is just so unusual and classy Holly.  Sorry to ask another question, but whatever black fondant do you use?  I use ready made and it is the stickiest, floppiest, hardest to work with of all the coloured fondants I have tried.  Even adding tylo to it doesn't help much, it just goes really 'gummy'

Awe!  Thank you Katy!  They were so much fun.  I typed in "Bride Silhouette" in Google and found an image I like amongst the images.. printed it, cut it out, and cut it out of my black fondant.  I didn't even add any tylose or gumpaste, for some reason, my black fondant dries really hard, REALLY fast.  I turned it over to the back and attached a lollypop stick, about an inch and a half onto the silhouette, and the rest anchoring down for the cake using sugar glue, let it dry, then covered it with black fondant and a little water so the white stick wasn't showing.  Anchored it in styrofoam to attach details on the front.  Voila!  SO easy, and the bride loved it.

Holly this is just wonderful!  Strange coincidence - I had pretty much decided to do a silhouette of some sort on my daughter's 50th bday cake in August.  Having seen this, I know it is a good idea.  Are they gumpaste and how did you make them stand like that?
