This cake gave me fits!! Van is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream, covered in fondant details. The figures are store-bought and I used them to scale the Mystery Machine. Base cake is chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling.

Eileen, this is a really uptown cake! Just luv the detailing.
Regina, just go for it, you can do it good enough for a 7 year old! You do your best, and smile when you give it to her. She will love it!! Kids are loaded with enough imagination for themselves & you too! My grandson, 6, asked for an alligator cake, I had no idea of what to do, but I dove in. It was covered with only BG, nothing fancy. You could easily tell the legs were the corners I had cut off of the square cake, they didn't fool anybody for even a second. But he loved it because I had made it, just for him! His mom said she had cake left over from his kid's party the day before, and not to make a big one. BUT, surprisingly, everyone loved it, and that was the only cake they ate that day! Go figure! :o)))
What did you charge to make this cake i asked a local backer they quoted me $600. I am really thinking I can make this but use cereal treats instead of cake because we don't need this much cake. What are your thoughts tips or tricks? My daughter is turning 7 and she wants a cake like this.
Linda - I had some candy rocks and put them into a food processor with some Oreos I had removed the cream from. Made perfect gravel!!
What did you use for your gravel?
