I am planning to use the macaws as a topper for an entry in the Tennessee State Fair.  I have never before entered (or even seen!) a cake decorating competition.  I may pee on myself before  it is over :o)

LOL! I was thinking the same thing when I was responding, Bonnie :o)  I thank you for your kind words...again, words I've often thought about you. XOXO back at ya!

Morning Sandra!  In you, I think I have found a fellow 'rambler', so now we can just ramble on, & on, & on! lol

You are kind, and modest, and we luv you just that way!  Never change! XOXO

Thanks, again, Gail.  You are so sweet!

Bonnie, I agree that the best work is coming from folks just like our fellow CWB members (and I include us in the group, too, :o)).  I find that a lot of professionals, in all fields, start to let their work slide - perhaps a sort of burn out.  EXAMPLE:  I once saw a college production of Camelot with a student playing King Arthur who was far superior to Richard Harris (of Broadway fame).  It was said that Richard Harris had played King Arthur so long that he thought he was the king.  Maybe, but I thought his performance was lackadaisical at best, just plain boring at worst. I fell in love with the college version and he wasn't even good looking!  So, yes, that is why I am afraid!  I know cake decorating masters walk silently among us.

You know, I sound like all I am interested in is winning and that is not accurate at all.  I just don't want to embarrass myself.  As you said, where are the words?  I have found by competing, I learn an awful lot and make a ton of wonderful friends interested in the same thing.  It is nice to be recognized and I would be proud of any award, but if a better entry earns the prize, I want the opportunity to study it, learn from it and enjoy it.  I also enjoy the opportunity to congratulate the other contestants on their achievements.  Again, as you said, Bonnie, if someone has gone to the trouble of entering a contest, they have given their best.

Hey, I think I just realized......I just love seeing people at their best!  LOL!

Shush Hon! Neither did I!

I know that YOU, dear friend, of all people, fully understand that anyone that does their best, has done their best, and therefore is a shining star.  If it weren't for attitudes like that, a lot of us would just be swept under the table, never to be heard from again.  I just get on my ____ horse every now & then, and start orating!  Can't seem to help myself.  Must be all those crossword puzzles I do while in the ...sheee, LOO!   There I go again, just push me of the dais!

But really, and this is my very own personal opinion, but I have seen a lot, and I mean a LOT, of really beautiful, wonderfully executed cakes, on this site alone, that far outshines anything done by some of those so called 'experts'!   Don't get me wrong, they do marvelous work, but it seems that after a while, for at least some of them, they just kind of seem to ride on their reputations.?  Know what I mean?  Where are the right words when I need them!?  Anyway, I would be far more intimidated by having to compete with almost anyone on this site here, than one of them, and that is the truth.  I would go up against one of them in a second, not so with a lot of the 'cakers' on this site!!  And as for being nervous when making a cake for someone, I am the biggest coward that I know! lol  That is why I have never charged anyone for a cake.

SO BEAUTIFUL

I didn't mean "unimportant" to the people exhibiting or viewing the show, just in comparison to the big shows that attract the greatest talents in the world who compete against each other.  If I considered it truly unimportant, I wouldn't bother to enter and if I did decide to enter, I wouldn't be scared!  Maybe I am just very insecure, but I am always nervous when I make a cake for someone because I so much want them to be happy.

Thank you for your kind words, Bonnie.
