Hi Gail, I hardly ever use petal dust. I only use concentrated water soluble colour powders. I start off by making the darkest shade, then adding different amounts of white paste to get the different shades and ending with almost white.

every time i look at flowers i want to do more this is so pretty , did you use pettal dust or shade your gumpaste ? for the open  rose ?
