Thank you for the inspiration.  I was trying to find a great idea for my mom's birthday.  Your cake is inspiring me.  This looks about like her hat!  Fantastic job.  I love your border as well!

I used a 10 x 10 pan for the base of the hat and 2 -4 inch round pans which I carved and shaped to look like a hat.
