I'm just sharing some new things with making roses for my red gum-paste roses. First, I added Amercolor Super Red to Royal Icing, then I added Tylose to the royal icing to make the gum-paste, next the gumpaste was put in a shorting lined storage bag. I let it set for at least 12hrs. The next day I added more Americolor-Super Red and some tinted fuchsia Wilton fondant. I made that from Wilton gel color- Maroon.. I again, let that sit another night. These red gum-paste roses were dusted with red petal dust then painted with vodka. These roses were not steam. This is the first time I tried this. I really like the finish with these roses. I hope this helps some one making red rose, I even made a second batch and got the same result. I made 60 roses in all!

beautiful
Thank you everyone! Katy Nott I was surfing the internet about making gumpaste and read about this info. It is pretty close to Nicholas Lodge method of gumpaste, except if you have leftover royal icing (made with meringue powder), start with 1 tablespoon of tylose (4 cup powder sugar recipe), add more or less depending on the amount of royal icing. It really works! I'm allergic to eggs so this works for me.
beautiful...
Beautiful bright roses.
