Title says it all really as to the occasion! Bottom tier vanilla Madeira brushed with rum syrup and filled with rum buttercream. Top tier lemon madeira brushed with sharp lemon syrup and filled with lemon curd and lemon buttercream (he loves lemon!). Both cakes were 3 layers. Lion's head with dreadlocks made in white modelling chocolate and colour dusted. Lager can (his favourite brand) made of rkt and covered in edible image. Sunglasses (nightmare) from gumpaste and sprayed with edible glaze.

Thank you all.  Yes Bonnie - always up for a challenge!  I was very happy with the fondant covering on the bottom tier.  Had a really good crumb coat on it.  I did get an air bubble on the top at first, but a pin prick soon solved that problem.  I hate working with premade black fondant as it's so sticky, so I coloured some white with Black Extra gel until it was a darkish grey, then just finished it off with the airbrush to get the deep black.  Worked really well.

This is incredible, Katy!  I thought the beer can and sunglasses were real!  The fondant looks silky smooth and the lion is adorable.  Great job!  Oh, and it does sound delicious.  I am a lemon lover, too.

haha, thank you Betty.  I do hope it tastes OK, they were both recipes I hadn't used before.  Bit dangerous, really.  But to be honest, I think the recipient and his crowd are more impressed by looks than substance..............

Great job. For a min. I thought that was a real beer can. Sounds delicious, lemon one of my favorites too.

ah thank you both so much.  Lesley was delighted with it, just what she wanted, she said.  I have told her I need a picture of Tommo with it, in his full regalia (sunglasses and new hat that she has bought him).

The picture was taken deliberately to hide the break in the sunglasses - couldn't have got there without Mick, his trusty drill and a little bit of florist wire lol!
