Everything was going so well with this cake, a little too well, no problems....The cakes baked well, buttercream went on smooth, fondant was awesome! I pack up the car to deliver the cake, the location was about 40 miles away, and the party was starting in about hour, so I was a little rushed. We got the car packed and as I was getting into the car to leave, I dropped the Prince figurine and the head snapped right off!! ARG!! After I found his head, I ran back in the house, glued the princess' head back on and away we went. Bottom layer, vanilla cake, middle layer strawberry cake, to layer devils food cake. Covered in MMF. Figurines were purchased

Thank you for the lovely comments. Ann, I cut out  long triangles, then cut them in half. I placed them around the cake with the wide end attached to the cake, leaving the tip loose. I rolled a long 'snake' of fondant, placed it around to the bottom, over the wide part of the triangles.  Then I smoothed the loose triangles over the 'snake' and tucked in the tips.

I hope that makes sense. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Not the first prince to lose his head over a pretty cake - er - girl.  Can you tell me abut the border around the first layer?

Wow! This is gorgeous. So glad you were able to fix the problem so simply. I know the recipient of this cake had to be ecstatic!
