Yikes.......don't know what site you got that info from.  When I want to make double sure of something, I ck with the knowledgable cakers here. There is good & bad info when searching on the internet. I just bought a steamer recently over christmas. It came with a super long cord, which means I can be a good distance from my cake when I steam it. Of course it is suppose to be used for clothes, but you can steam your gumpaste/fondant flowers, fondant covered cakes to make them shiny. I want to cover a dummy & practice cause I know if you get too close, the steam will melt your fondant.

yup! i ironed it coz that's what i learned from looking into the internet's "how-tos", well thanks to you for telling me that i can just rub it by hand, probably i can try again next time :)

Forgot to say that at least your "package" cake came out beautifully despite all the mishaps. Weve all had em.

Oh my goodness Genevieve, so sorry you had so much trouble. I will be putting a chocolate transfer on my nephew's wedding cake in May. I haven't done one in a while, so was going to cover a 6" dummy with fondant so I could practice. I am tied up this next week making cakes & fondant for a wedding cake for this Saturday.  What do you mean "iron"??  When you carefully place the parchment/wax paper on the cake, it is VERY gentle rubbing with your hand. The heat of your hand should allow the chocolate transfer to stick to the cake & then peel away ever so slowly.

When I finally do my practice, I will post a pic.

thank you very much ladies! that present cake was once a disaster, did you remember June i ask how to cover a cake with chocolate transfer? that suppose to be that square cake on the picture but i failed when i ironed the transfer on top of the cake, the ganache inside and the fondant on top was melted so i ended up ripping the whole top and ganache it again and cover it again with fondant that's why it ended up like gift box. well, it looked better like that, i think...:)
