I discovered it is all about consistency too.  Sometimes it works well, others not at all.  Trouble is I do so many, that when it does go right, I can't remember what I did!

You're getting it Gali.   Looks good. I've never had to much trouble with icing getting to soft while I pipe, but I do work kinda fast. Old saying "cold hands , warm heart" maybe thats me.

I can't do100% RI...for loose piping yes...dots, scrolls. But too stiff for me for ruffles, roses, etc. So I found the 50/50 the perfect solution. Just the right consistency of bc and the RI seems to give it strength. And, yes Sandra, found icing didn't get so soft. But for me, not piping or making roses all the time, it's ALWAYS about getting the perfect consistency of icing. If that's not right...then nothing works!!!

I can pipe the royal tooth pick rose's , but when it comes to do them on that nail ! it all gets shot down big time ! how many flowers I tried b-4 I got one that looks kind of like a rose ! ,, lost count ! lol !

My hot hands melted the buttercream in the piping bag, too.  Does the 50/50 mix with RI help with that, June?  I had better luck piping flowers with buttercream than Royal.

Pretty Gail. When I first learned, it was the Wilton bc recipe. I used. If I want a good piping icing, I do a bc icing plus RI icing 50/50.
