Pink & Black
This is cake #2 for Megan. Her 30th birthday was in December, but it's so hectic, hard to find time to squeeze in a party, let alone a organized "surprise party". Well, hopefully Megan will be truly surprised. It's actually my son Chris's birthday, and the the pretense is a family dinner & cake for him. Much planning, lying & conniving went into convincing Megan, NOT to take my son to a restaurant for a quiet intimate birthday dinner. Megan really, really, I mean really didn't want any ta-do on her 30th.....So being a 2nd cake, wanted to make something completely different, a little out of the box. I had a few ideas in my head, I wanted girly hot pink...and Megan likes black...so this is what I came up with. Dense chocolate cake with orange zest. Covered in chocolate/orange ganache and homemade chocolate mmf dyed black. Coffe filter rose topper as a keepsake.
