There is a tutorial on Cake Central but I saw it so long ago I forgot what they called it. If you go to that sight and look for "Overboard" you should see the cake and where folks asked for the tutorial. I sent copies to everyone that asked. My copy crashed with my computer :-(, so if this isn't clear enough maybe one of the Bakers who commented on my photo would be kind enough to send it to you. But basically, you bake the cake, fill and make it a round shape, (the smaller the less fondant you need) take fondant and make a long cord (a little un-even to make them look authentic), start from the bottom working your way up, make a circle of fondant (the thickness of your fondant cord) and place on top.  I used vodka and brown luster dust to give it the pancake color. The fruit was hand shaped with fondant as well. Hope that helps.
