your right Sandra , !! I lived and grew up in NJ , the ( coffee cake / crumb cake ) !is what it is called , the crumbs are so big and deep in the cake ! its like 50-50 cake and crumbs !! in a lg baking pan I spread the cake mixture , NOT all the way to the edge ! so that you can cover the edges of the cake mixture with the crumbs to , , it will bake up to fill the edge of the pan , I used lots of butter to coat the pan than a parchment paper , than cover the parchment with butter ! if you love crumb / coffee cake its to die for !

I wonder why they call it coffee cake when it doesn't have coffee in it? Just looked up the recipe I love coffee flavoured cake. I am going to make one anyway. I could just eat a slice of yours now, it looks really crunchy.

I like big crumbs so I just squished, it in my and to form lg crumbs , also I did not lay it on paper to dry the crumbs ! no need for that !!

just the smell will drive yaz crazy for it when you bake it ! I couldn't wait for it to cool down , lol !
