My son loved the cake.. I thought it turned out pretty good..
Chocolate cake covered with buttercream icing and then Marshmallow fondant.. Hand painted to look like wood.. The Shells are white chocolate, Small plaque is white chocolate colored silver.. I call the deer Snow Deer for the white chocolate antler's..

10 out of 10 Kelly.  You should be proud - so many firsts and such a great result.

I used 1 Bambo skewer broken into 5 pieces to help support the deer.. no board.. just put the pieces just under the head and they did great.. I didn't cave in..I thought it made it appear to be coming out of the cake some.. I make my own chocolate clay "modeling chocolate".. Thanks again for the wonderful comments.. Comments like this is my main reason for doing cakes.. I love the reactions from others.. Thank You....

awesome ! i love making chocolate sculpture for heads , i am working on the halloween fundraiser donation for a sm boy with brain cancer ! and i was wondering how you added the heads to your cake , are they sitting on dowles ? on a board ? not many cakers do the chocolate sculpting  , your head seems to be the only one iv seen since i posted mine , my cake is due on the 26th for pick up , and i still havn't desided how to put the heads on the cake ! lol , but i am loving that you also did yours like i do my heads , awesome job , by the way i make my own chocolate clay , do you buy yours ?

Gali,

Thank You so much for the comment.. I am very proud of myself for what I have done.. My 1st Deer, 1st time working with modeling chocolate and 1st time sculpting with it.. Awesome stuff.. Here are the details on how I made it..

Cake is Chocolate Fudge cake carved like a plaque.. Covered in Buttercream and Marshmallow fondant.. I used wilton's brown gel and hand painted it to look like real wood..

Deer is Pure modeling chocolate.. The antler's were done first and put in the fridge to set.. They were added to the head with the "hair" patches.. Everything else stuck pretty good.. I just smoothed the edges with my tool..

The deer is just sitting on top of the "plaque" but appears to be coming out of it almost..

The Shotgun Shells are white chocolate and colored with wilton's powder coloring..

Hope this helps..
