I also had never used your recipe for the cake before, but then it turned out perfect!

You are soooo right Gail!  It was just a practice cake.  Now I do feel a whole lot better. lol  I was trying out 2 new recipes this time.  I had never worked with/tried ganache before, nor the Choc. caramel crème filling.  I will practice more with the ganache, and when I do it right, I will let you all know!  I have one pc. of this cake left, & it will be eaten before I go to bed tonight! lol  It is really decadent, & scrumptious!

You know, the more I look at this picture, I have got to say that this is one ugly cake!!! lol

In appearance, it has no redeeming qualities.  And I am definitely NOT fishing for compliments here, just stating the plain & simple truth.

It is a good thing that we all know what is in it, that makes it such a delicious cake, or someone just might decide to toss it out!

And that would be a waste of one terrific tasting cake! lol

I scraped up every bit from the 'drip pan', then added powdered sugar to get the thickness I wanted.  Whipped it by hand to incorporate.  Probably should have used the mixer, but I hate 'clean-up' time!  That is why the roses are lighter in color than the cake.  And, yes, it piped just like buttercream.  It looks like I needed a little more sugar, they are not quite standing up like I intended.

Overall, this was a terrific cake!  So thanks again!
