this cake was made for my co-worker's request as their post mother's day celebration for his mother-in-law. Vanilla Cake filled with strawberry jam and frosted with strawberry white chocolate ganache. Actually, i don't have a crimper but just because this cake is just in time for another cake contest so i tried to think of something that i can use for crimping. i used the shell tool together with this semi-round thingy clay tool ( sorry coz i don't know the name :) ). I took some ideas and inspiration from the book Sugarcraft of Nicholas Lodge, i find it very inspiring and breath-taking. This cake of mine is far behind from his cake, but as a hobby home baker, i'm so happy the way it came out coz this cake was almost a DISASTER, the jam make the cake kept slipping even though i already put a ganache dam on the side, oh my! the most horrible experience so far since i started baking. I spent 10 hrs just by frosting this cake. I prayed to God for help and He heared me :). I'm totally drained after everythings done, Thank God.

and i mean the cake was baked a night before too, so all i did yesterday was just icing it.
yeah i almost did, until now i'm still like shaking of being so tired and this cake will be picked-up anytime soon today, finished at 2am, started yesterday at 6Am, just the cake coz all removable decorations has been ready for a week already. lol! am so tired...
It looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing your horror story. Although I'm sorry you had these issues, it is reassuring to know that I'm am not the only one that sometimes has crazy issues with a cake. Isn't it funny how it can begin as a disaster and then turn out beautiful. I think the important lesson is not to give up.
