My mother loves Lenox china and afternoon tea with a taste of something sweet. She recently gave me the Lenox platter the cake is displayed on, along with the china teacup her own mother always drank from during afternoon tea. I decided to duplicate one of her favorite Lenox china vases, "fill" it with two of her favorite flowers and display it on the platter along with the beautiful cup. I hope this cake shows her how much I love her. The cake is her favorite white velvet filled with raspberries.
I hoped to be able to present her with this cake for Mother's day but a sudden downturn in her health prevented me from completing this until now. The cake I am sure is no longer edible but the love is still there. Since she always hates to cut them now she will not have to! Don't worry-will make a another undecorated one she can serve!LOL
Cake is covered with ivory fondant and decorated with a 50/50 blend orchids and leaves. I dusted everything with super pearl to give the vase a nice sheen. Also used supergold on the rim of the vase but I don't think that can be seen very well. Used floral wire for the "spray".

Congratulations!! So beautiful cake.
Many congratulations!
Congratulations, I thought your cake was beautiful, and so unusual.
Congratulations Beverly. Lovely, gracious comment about Nadia's cake too. Well done.
Thank you for all the kind comments. I am thrilled with 2nd place as this cake was on "on/off" work in progress that almost did not get completed, The winning cake was much more detailed and creative and I am pleased she won!
Congratulations Beverly. This is one of my favourites.
