FRESH APPLE PIE
FRESH picked apples , made 2 apple pies this morning cant wait to eat 1 ; )) yummy my house smells so good ; )

I freeze everything too. Apples pies I will make big and then M nad I will only eat some, then put the rest in the freezer for the next weekend, or two. As it's already cooked, when I take it out of the freezer, I leave it to thaw at room temperature, exposed to the air, so the pastry doesn't go soggy. Heat it in the oven with a bit of foil over the top, then take the foil off for the last few minutes to crisp the pastry up again. Works pretty well. I cannot bear waste and freeze leftover anything to use again in some manner or other.

My Mom froze EVERYTHING Gail. So I learned to make large batches of food when my kids were busy with school & sports. Great to just pop out homemade casseroles, a pie etc. out of the freezer. I put my pies in corning ware pie plates, then could go straight from the freezer to the oven. :o)

OK THANK YOU , ! I never made more than 2 at a time , so I always gave 1 away and ate the other , now I know ; )
