Thank you everyone for your nice comments.  The Royal icing is stiff if I recall correctly and I cut my styrofoam with a styrofoam cutter.  I got mine at Michaels craft store it is a thin wire that gets very hot and slices through the styrofoam.

Hi, this is beautiful. Do you mind share with us the consistency of royal icing is it must be thin then only get this lace effects which look so real ? How you carved your styrofoam, it's look so smooth & nice ...where i try to use knife ( bread ) the edge of styroform will not even ... thank you.

This technique is really quite simple.  Take a piece of lace lay it over your fondant, using your angled spatula, spread the royal icing then lift the lace off the fondant.  I then cut small petal shapes from the rolled out white fondant and applied it to the royal lace.  Voila, you now have edible lace!
