Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I was inspired to make this cake after seeing Nadia's cakes here on CWB. Mine isn't even close to how beautiful hers are, but at least I gave it my best shot and found that it isn't as hard as I thought! I just need practice on my string work, and need to go down to a smaller tip. It was a fun cake to make! Thank you Nadia!!

Thank you both. If you really want to see some beautiful string work, you need to visit Nadia's cakes. That woman has mastered Royal Icing and string work like no one I know!! Anyway, she is the one who gave me this idea, and I recommend everyone to give it a shot because this cake was sooo much fun to do. You just use your cutters in all different shapes and then use your tips to cut out circles and then piece it all on the cake, and where there is an intersection, that is where you cover it up with the string work. Next time, Rima, I'll know to use a much much smaller tip, and also possibly thin the RI down with some Karo clear syrup.

You're right a smaller tip would have added more delicateness, but this is beautiful.

Thank you Lynne...especially seeing it up close like this picture, I definitely can see where I need a lot of practice on this kind of work. (Good excuse to make a cake, right? I need the practice!) lol

A really nice effort.  Like all of our work, our 1st efforts are not always what we think they should be and can need some improvement but you did a super nice job.

Thank you everyone. I loved how it looked like a lace doily so I know I will keep practicing until I can perfect this technique.
