Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

After I made the hat cake for the contest, I decided to give it to my sister-in-law for an early birthday cake. Cake was sour cream chocolate with chocolate icing as filling and covered the cake. Red was half fondant and half gum paste.

Ha! Ha!   I tried my little wee cake today. The one with the Fasinator  hat on it. It is the same cake I made for the bridal shower cake this weekend. It was a coconut pound cake....yum, it was moist, dense & delicious. Sure hope they like it at the shower.

I was going to do it with this cake, Gail, but I was too lazy to go out and buy the Styrofoam ball and 6" round cake. Our local show isn't until September, so I have time, plus I'll need to make stuff for that one, so this will be a good idea for one. When I bought this candle holder, there was another one on clearance at Hobby Lobby for 90% off that looks just like the bottom of a lamp. I am thinking about making a Tiffany lamp shade with that one. It had been around $25.00 regular price and I got it for $2.50-my kind of bargain! lol

When I handed it to her, I broke off a little bit of the brim by accident. You can see where I broke it. She was kind of bummed out that I broke it because she wanted to get a picture. It's just cake! lol
