This wasn't how i originally pictured the cake, but because of a blunder while piping the gold royal icing, i had to rescue the fondant. So I ended up painting it with gold gel color.

Shaira - I've come into this conversation a bit late, sorry. But I echo what everyone says (including you about how you look up to these guys that are so good and appreciate their willingness to help - me too).  You covered up well, your cake looks really pretty and, if we didn't make any mistakes, I don't think we would improve.  Mistakes can be really helpful, you learn so much by them and think ' next time I'll try doing it that way, instead of this way'.  btw I made the same mistake with the fondant out of the freezer on an igloo cake - got in a ghastly mess with it lol!

It turned out pretty, Shaira! I love how you did the flowers and the vines. What was the blunder? If some of the piping color got onto the fondant, sometimes, (not always, though, but worth a try) you can take a bit of clear alcohol, like Vodka, and use a Q-tip to remove any color on the fondant. You would first have to remove any icing, then go over the bad spot to clean it up. The alcohol won't leave a shiny spot. I've even used this to clean off black on the fondant where I have made a mistake and it will take it off! By the way, everything that everyone has written so far is so true. We have all had to make repairs, cover up blunders, change the design midway....It just proves how inventive and creative you really are! No one knows but you what the cake was 'supposed' to look like, so what they see is perfection!
