Thanks for comments!  Michelle I made the cake with the doll dress pan for the middle, ball pan for the head, 9x13 for the rest of the shapes needed.  I used buttercream frosting on most of my cakes cause of my arthritis.  I have a hard time rolling out the fondant.  Lots of carving and smoothing until I got the shape.  the scales I simply used my spatula and made indents.  spray painted blue first then yellow in areas and shaded in brown and black.  wings were gum paste.

This is incredible.  Can you send me tips for how to do this? I've been looking for a dragon cake for my son's birthday.  The detail in the shape, the scales, the coloring is absolutely incredible!
