Oh yes, let him follow his heart. My son was in his early twenties before he came to the realization that hockey was going to be strictly recreational. He put more concentration into lacrosse. Didn't want to dampen your spirits. There was joy, sorrow, elation, heartache, a real roller coaster ride. Had good & bad coaches, met & made some wonderful friends. Wouldn't have missed it for the world. And it was worth every penny, AND the 5am practices!!

I know exactly what you are taking about. Our son in a defense man so we know for sure. The who you know really does matter. I say just keep following your heart and you will be on the right path. Whatever happens it is a learn experience and a pleasure. You just always want the best for your kids but sometime can't see it clearly.

Well, Micelle, my son was an excellent hockey player. Went on to junior B. Good team, bad coach. Same in lacrosse at university, ok team, catstrophe of a coach. Unfortuneately, Stats are EVERYTHING. The powers that be never look at the whole player or their potential.  So it is about good breaks, right place, right time, and WHO you know. It was most certainly a learning experience. But the pool for kids trying to get into hockey is HUGE.  Most parents think their boy is "Wayne Gretzkey"!!!! But we are grateful our son got his scholarship for lacrosse. And the lessons learned were invaluable.

Wow, you are one talented lady. My son was in rep hockey & lacrosse, so traveled lots. Son got a lacrosse scholarship to American university. I can't wait to show this pic to him. It will blow him away.
