Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Made this over the weekend for a little girl's birthday, and she insisted on a heart shaped cake even though it's Easter time. Oh well. I used a 6" square pan for the point of the cake and a 6" round cut in half for the curvature of the cake. It is 2 layers, but I had to add 1-1/2 cup extra of flour, sugar, sour cream, and an extra egg (total of 5) as the SCWA cake extender recipe, and I did add extra baking soda to make sure there was enough leavening. The icing was cherry flavored butter cream.

Thank you Katy! Actually, she hasn't got it yet. Her grandma is going to pick it up later this afternoon.

Linda, this is soooooo pretty.  So grown up also for a little girl and I bet she loved it!

Thank you Goreti...you know what? One recipe was enough to cover my black forest cake after all! The pic is still in the camera and George is busy right now, otherwise I would load it up. Later today or tomorrow.
