Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Made this over the weekend for a little girl's birthday, and she insisted on a heart shaped cake even though it's Easter time. Oh well. I used a 6" square pan for the point of the cake and a 6" round cut in half for the curvature of the cake. It is 2 layers, but I had to add 1-1/2 cup extra of flour, sugar, sour cream, and an extra egg (total of 5) as the SCWA cake extender recipe, and I did add extra baking soda to make sure there was enough leavening. The icing was cherry flavored butter cream.

It was a fun cake to make. I was going to glitz up the little hearts with pearl petal dust, but as you can see on the middle heart, the petal dust went onto the icing at the bottom of the heart and so I decided to forget it. Didn't add that much one way or another anyway.
