you can make the key lime out of your lemon , or  make orange , pink lemonade , I use key lime or lime  juice instead of water ! when it saz 1 & 1/2 or whatever I always use a cup of juice , and the rest water ! in the lemon cake mix , to make keylime , just add color, you can mix and match the cake mix's also !

June - Tesco do have their own, but it's terrible!!!! (at least the one I tried was).

Waitrose (that's a slighter posher supermarket chain than Tesco), sometimes do Betty Crocker discounted - £1.45 a box.  That's when I get a few in for back up when I need a quick cake and don't feel like doing from scratch.  Or Tesco do 3 for the price of 2 occasionally.

Gail - would you believe I can't seem to get the white or yellow plain mixes anywhere here?!  All I have been able to get is Devil's Food, Carrot, Lemon and Chocolate swirl!  If I could get the plain, then I would certainly do what you do.

The other flavors didn't interest me. Not surprised they tasted fake, they sounded fake.

Katy:  checked out Tesco to see if they would have there own brand of cake mix.  Surprised that they only had a couple of choices.  Price of Betty Crocker was dear I must say.....  almost $3.50 CAD.

I haven't tried those packets yet. When I was a kid, we used to have a Duncan Hines over in Omaha, Nebraska, and my cousin and my uncle both worked over there. They had a test kitchen where they tried out their different cakes and both my uncle and cousin would bring home boxes and boxes of baked cake rounds from their test kitchens. Everyone in our family had tons of already baked cakes on hand for years while they worked there. Then, Duncan Hines relocated and no more test cakes. Boy.....those were the days........yummmm.
