Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Our local library is having a summer "read-in" program called "Own the Night" and they asked if I could do some cupcakes with glow-in-the-dark frosting using a recipe the woman found on Pinterest. I read the recipe and KNEW it was not going to taste good, but I tried it anyway. I was right - it didn't taste good (it's basically shortening, powdered sugar, tonic water (which naturally flouresces under a black light) and vanilla). So I made up a batch of regular buttercream and it got a little bit of a glow under the black light, but not like the other stuff. So I compromised! I piped regular buttercream swirls on top, then used a small star tip with the glowing frosting and piped little stars into the folds of the swirls. The result was what looked like glowing stars!
