I really like these - have you tried using uncooked spaghetti as supports. I find that it works with all forms of modelling pastes and its edible.

My first figures ever were 2 cows and a pig. I use gumpaste for figures and I also let the heads dry a few days before I permanently place them on the figures. That helps avoid damaging their facial features and shape of head when placing. It took me a couple of tries also to make them, specially the female. Once I had her, the male was pretty simple. I enjoy making them. I love the challenge!

Your FIRST ones??? Holy cow! Would never have guessed it! They look great. Mine kept falling apart and they were too soft and mushy, so it was difficult. I used fondant only, so I guess that might have been the problem. AND I used water as the glue. When I jammed the lollipop stick into the head, the fondant just slid down! Grrr! I will have to practice my little people a bit more. The Phineas and Ferb cake worked a bit better since I used gumpast with it. Thanks for the tips! :-)

Thanks for your comments Diana! Let me see if I remember. Well, I placed a lollipop stick in the trunk of their bodies going straight into the base. I made their necks with fondant/gum paste (the stick also pierces the necks and into the heads) and glued everything with gum paste glue. There's also a gumpaste rock under the female's elbow to support the figure (she was falling over..lol).It took me about 2 weeks to finish them, I think. They were my first human figures.

BEAUTIFUL!!! So here is my question... HOW in the world do you keep it from falling apart? How do you stick the head on the body? If you look at mine (on my page) the only one I did looks crazy because it's leaning all to the side! Would love/appreciate some pointers! :-) Thanks!
