As far as the plaques, yes, I hand paint them with a mix of vodka and paste/gel color. They are straight gumpaste, rolled a little thicker at the bottom than the top to leave a little depth to insert toothpicks. Just cut them out with some large cookie cutters, stick in the thoothpicks, let 'em dry, then paint. Make sure you get a good lettering paint brush - thin and really long bristles, my set cost about $10 bucks or so at Hobby Lobby.

Hi Carey. Nope, I use the recipe straight off the box. Usually dump the RKT onto parchment paper while warm, and use the paper to push the cereal into the shape I want. I pack them pretty tightly, this helps to make the cereal smooth and not so lumpy. I will use a form, I had a funky shaped bowl that I used to make the top of the mushroom on this one, and then used my daughter's small princess cup to make the stem. I will stick them in the freezer for a bit to help them set up real quickly.
Really cute! Did you hand paint the plaque?
I noticed you use alot of RKT, isn't there a trick with it, no butter or something like that? Do you add any modeling chocolate to yours?
