Cake topper for sis-in-law's cake. I purchased a rubber stamp to do the
"Feliz Cumpleanos" but it was too big. Plan "b" was to stamp it on a piece of paper so I could decrease the size using my printer/copier then transfer it on but my printer kept giving me a message that there was a paper jam, which there was none, & couldn't get beyond that point. Plan "c", ended up freehanding it. These old hands are shaky & it kinda shows but it is what it is now. Did it in black b/c thought it wouldn't stand out as well if in peach. What does everyone else think? Honest opinions appreciated. So this will go on top & flower is going on front of cake. Stay tuned :)

Me too!   A lot of work, no matter what you say, lol, and simply beautiful!

Thanks Bonnie. Actually it wasn't that difficult. I used an extruder to get 3 different sized pieces of gumpaste & just wrapped them loosely around each other, kind of similar to making a rope. The only hard part was getting that done before the gumpaste dried so it wouldn't crack. I added the curled pieces separately & for the leaves I used a mold. I knew the cake was going to have leaves piped on it so my goal was for the topper to coordinate w/that.

I really, really, like how you entwined everything around the outside. That looks like a lot of work!

Thanks so much everyone. At first I really thought I had ruined it & was seriously considering just throwing it out & starting all over again but you all have made me feel so much better about it.

Denise, this is gorgeous!  Going to look lovely on a cake.  I'm with the others on the writing - black was the way to go.  And I'd be more than happy if I could pipe write like that!
