Thank you, again, Becky!  I didn't have to do a lot.  The cakes had a little crown when I took them out of the oven.  I leveled the bottom layer and saved the top (crown).  The top layer, I left rounded and filled in where needed with the left over from the first layer.  I did trim the sides to make an oval instead of a circle.  I put a ton of cream cheese frosting on the cake before covering with fondant and I think it did most of the smoothing.  I was pleased with how smooth it came out.  The "brim" is actually the plate covered with fondant.

This is beautiful Sandra. I saw the pic of the back view & it looks just like it was designed that way. I've learned over the years to just be gracious, say thank you, & keep everything else to myself.
