Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

basket is made of fondant/gumpaste cake inside is chocolate layer, leaves are made of very thin airbrushed fondant. Large pumpkin was carved from red velvet layer cake and covered with a thick coat of fondant and also airbrushed. Goards and small pumpkin were made from smaller carved chocolate layer cakes and also cake putty (cake crumbs and buttercream) then shaped and frozen before dirty icing and fondant or chocolate coating.

These are great. Looks like you picked them out of the garden. Good luck!

Yay!  I did not miss the deadline!  We will be cutting the cake(s) tomorrow (Tuesday), so I will be taking and posting pictures, because some people still can't believe they are carved cakes!

This is amazing!!!!! Beautifully done and looks so real! I love it. But are you sure it's too late to enter it? I just now got a notice (3:31pm on Monday Iowa time) that this is (10/24/2011) the last day to enter. I would think as long as you have it in before mid-night tonight, you should be good. You are talking about the Cakes We Bake contest, right?

Thanks for all the encouragement.  I am trying to always work "out of the box" and either go for total realism, or the total opposite...cartoonish characterization.  Either way, I am having fun...and learning as I go.
