Does anyone have tips on how to use a socccer ball pan - had to leave this cake in the oven for almost 2 hours!!!
This was my toughest cake ever. First attempt was thrown away - and second attempt had to be used else i would be late but had to cut off so much off it and bake another cake to add to the base to give more height. Tips anyone?

Nirosha, it sounds like this needs to be baked with a core insert - sort of like a small, tall aluminum glass inserted in the center to help with even heat distribution.
I've tried the football cake only once and I didn't use the actual pan; instead I baked it in a round bowl in the microwave and it took toooo long for the batter at the bottom to be cooked (being in a deep container)... Not sure if that was your problem, or something else.
Nice idea I made (for future similar cakes) is that I emptied it in the center and filled it with M&Ms.. they call it Pinata Cake and the kids loved it :)
