This purple gum paste is the batch with a little baking soda added.  I read somewhere on the internet that baking soda would prevent the color from fading and it actually worked.  It did change the texture a little bit...made it sort of sticky.

The gathers were not preplanned.  While smoothing the fondant over the cake I noticed how much like fabric it looked where the wrinkles came together and decided to leave it and call it gathers.  Worked out really well and was a lot easier than making the fondant completely smooth LOL!

Your attention to detail again!  Putting the loose, wrinkled, look to the fondant where the bow is attached.  Not many would think of that.  luv it.
