Cake is two layer chocolate sour cream cake using a 6 inch round pan and one of the pans from the ball pan set. The red leaves on the side are made from a mixture of modeling chocolate and fondant/gum paste mix. The 'cake stand' is actually a candle holder that holds a votive cup but my husband cut out my plate from wood and then glued 2 round pieces of 1inch pine in the center that fit snugly into the hole where the votive cup would normally fit. The hat itself is covered in half gum paste half fondant mix. The rose is black fondant dusted with a gray/super pearl luster dust mix. Thank you for looking.

Thank you Tracy. We are just now getting Downton Abbey on PBS. I'm sure it has already been shown in its entirety over in GB, hasn't it? Masterpiece theater is my favorite program on PBS, especially if it is a period setting.

Thank you Nadia....I learned today that making hats is not as easy as I thought it would be. This looks nothing like my original plan, but I had issues with the brim and had to make it smaller because of the weight and having it as a free standing cake, the weight kept pulling the brim down. Oh well...I'm happy with it anyway.
