Cake is two layer chocolate sour cream cake using a 6 inch round pan and one of the pans from the ball pan set. The red leaves on the side are made from a mixture of modeling chocolate and fondant/gum paste mix. The 'cake stand' is actually a candle holder that holds a votive cup but my husband cut out my plate from wood and then glued 2 round pieces of 1inch pine in the center that fit snugly into the hole where the votive cup would normally fit. The hat itself is covered in half gum paste half fondant mix. The rose is black fondant dusted with a gray/super pearl luster dust mix. Thank you for looking.

Thank you Jeri. I used the Americolor Red mixed with some Americolor Black until I got to the color I wanted. I didn't wear any gloves while mixing and did I ever have a mess getting it off my hands!

Very cute Linda!!!  Congrats!  What red fondant did you use?  I like the darker red color.

Kariema, I see all of the flaws in my poor little cake. There were so many others that had such awesome details and to me, mine was pretty simplistic by comparison. Don't get me wrong...I am thrilled beyond measure to have won. It's the very first time I have ever won anything, so that was awesome. But seeing all of the details that others put into their cakes, and also the story they told through their cakes...well, I was literally shocked to have won.

And thank you Kariema for your kind words. they mean a lot to me.

Thank you so much Diane. I honestly thought you would be the winner. Your pink flowers on that hat were just to die for. I especially love the picture that you posted on CC because you can see those beautiful roses up close.
