Thank-you everybody! I really debated how I wanted to do this one. There's so many different ideas out there on how to do birchwood. I found this to be my favorite and the easiest. I put fondant on top, but the sides are all buttercream. I just added little streaks of brown and black watered down food coloring, then used a bench scraper and went around the cake. After it crusted a bit, I lightly scraped it and messed it up for added texture. Super easy! :)
