I've seen these floating cakes and commissioned someone to make one for me; worked out the support system for the cake. Voila! This was my tester cake. Cake is supported from the top and hangs freely.

Hi Ruby! It was probably a pain where the sun don't shine, but I bet you had fun doing it! lol
The bow had to be high enough and arched enough to clear the cake; mine can clear 12". It's about 18" from the bottom of the hook to the tabletop.
It sure it. Just reverse order the layers on the 'hook'.

I know of several ladies that have attics full, but trying to get them to part from any, well, it is worse than pulling teethe. lol
lol , ,,, ok when I un pk , all my stuff , lol , but , some of my stuff will be pk' ed away 4ever ! lol , I don't need it , or want it it stays in the 1 barn we have , also have some in the stable ! need to have a big junk give away ! lol !
