Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I don't have any cakes to do in the near future, so I decided to 'play' with my leftover fondant from the last wedding cake I made. I have made six little guys so far, and have a whole pile of fondant left!

I brushed with cornstarch and put in the freezer for 20 mins. then I truned the hard plastic mold over and tapped it with the spatula handle until it dropped. they are little bass. They turned out cute.

Thank you Rima. I haven't worked a whole lot with modeling chocolate. But wouldn't putting them in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes harden them enough so that they would release? The only other thing I can figure, is using a very small amount of cooking spray. Try posting a new post in the decorating section on the forums and see if someone who has some good experience will post an expert answer. I'd like to know too.

I love your characters. Thier expressions are wonderful. Have you ever used white modeling choc in candy molds? I need some advice for releasing them.

Well, thank you Allison! That means a lot coning from someone who has ones that I consider cuter than mine! :o)

I learned how to do the giraffe with the tie and the big zebra sitting, on Cake Central from someone else's tutorials. Once I figured out how to make them, I don't need anyone else's tutorials to follow. I just come up with my own designs. Mine look pretty shabby compared to those you have made.
