Patricia...I"m sorry that I missed your comment...I don't use too much buttercream...won't be good...nice crumb coat...get the buttercream as stiff as the cake can handle...the good thing with fruit cake is that it's nice and sturdy. So don't be afraid of her...:)
I use strawberry jam to sandwich the layers...no buttercream...it's
stunning!!!
