Purchasing a dough board for rolling out cookies is quite pricey ($70 or more ), so I made my own... This is how I did it for less than $15...
I bought an oak cutting board at IKEA for $9.99. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30087148
Then I bought 1-1/2" x 1/4" oak strips at Home Depot and attached them to the back side of the board (so the lip hangs over the edge of the counter) on either side with brass screws.
The Wilton Wide Glide Rolling Pin is wide enough to overlap on either side. http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=B46C2136-802D-F658-044AFB328E609BEE&killnav=1
Now my cookies all come out a uniform 1/4".
It cost less than $15.00 (not including the rolling pin)
