Boston Red Sox Baseball Hat and Ball Grooms Cake - 625F

I used the Wilton ball pan and a six in for a little height. I made the brim out of gumpaste. All covered in mmf. For the shape I just set a real hat next to the cake and started carving where the real hat had divots and dents. I used those crumbs (I did a crumb coat before I carved) to make a cake dough-similar to cake truffles. I used the "dough" to build up the front a bit where the logo is. For the logo I used gumpaste and an exacto knife to cut it out. When it was dry I used a nail file to make the edges smooth. For the stitching I used scotch tape as my guide and used a quilting tool on each side. For the brim stitching I just pressed the real hat into the fondant and it gave me my guide line. Ball was made from rice krispie treats. The flavor was the grooms favorite beer, Blue Moon. I filled with an orange buttercream and covered in choco ganache.

Very neat and well done.  I love the border around the board.  What did you use for that?  My husband loves blue moon as well...care to share the recipe?
